Title I Compact
Overview
Eva R. Baca Elementary and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high academic standards.
Eva R. Baca Elementary will:
Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
- “Highly Qualified” teachers in every classroom support rigor and depth of knowledge in data-driven instruction, promoting student growth, and mastery of skills needed to meet the educational challenges of the 21st century
- Data-Driven Instruction
- Differentiated instruction for all students
- Family engagement and support programs that encourage family involvement in student achievement
- Implementation of AVID instructional Strategies by providing effective approaches to engage students
- Wonders Curriculum
- Engage New York Math Curriculum
- Write Tools Writing Curriculum
- 2 Partners Math Specialist Consultation
Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held:
- During the week of October 16th -19th,2023
- During the week of March 18th-20th, 2024
- Back to School/Title I night in which the compact and Title I Parent Involvement will be discussed
- Parent-Teacher Conference upon request by a parent
Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:
- iStation Progress Monitoring Reports
- Inform parents of all school events/meetings as well and encourage parents to attend
- Make positive phone calls on academic and behavioral successes
- Parent Portal Access
- Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Progress Reports for Intermediate grade levels halfway point in the quarters
Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:
- Classroom Dojo
- Family Engagement Nights
- Hold an annual “Back to School Night” to meet staff and learn about Title I programs.
- Principal and/or Counselor are available at all times to emergency meetings
- School Website
- Staff available before/after school by telephone, email, and appointment
Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:
- All parents have the right to know if their child’s teacher is “Highly Qualified” and the teacher’s qualifications; or if services are given by a paraprofessional, they have the right to know that services are given by a paraprofessional and to know the paraprofessional’s qualifications
- Attend school functions/activities during the day or evening
- Complete volunteer background check
- Educational showcases, concerts, and other opportunities
- Serve on the school parent accountability board
- Sign-in and wear a volunteer badge at all times
Parent Responsibilities
We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:
- Monitoring attendance
- Making sure that homework is completed
- Staying informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school and/or school district either received by my child or by mail and responding, as appropriate
- Attend parent nights, conferences, and parent meetings concerning your child
- Attend School Events and Activities (Music Performances, Title I Family Nights, Open House)
- Treat school staff with care and respect
Student Responsibilities
We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards. Specifically, we will:
- Do my homework every day and ask for help when I need to
- Read at least 30 minutes every day outside of school time.
- Give to my parents or the adult who is responsible for my welfare all notices and information received by me from the school every day
- Attend school regularly
- Be a positive role model to other students
- Be respectful to all adults and my peers
Title One Programs and Plan
- Inform parents about goals and purposes of Title I, curriculum used in Title I programs, academic assessments used to measure student progress, and proficiency levels students are expected to meet.
- Involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of Title I programs at school.
- If the Title I Plan is not satisfactory to the parents, submit parent comments on the plan to the district.
- If requested by parents, provide opportunities for regular meetings where parents may offer suggestions or ask questions.
- Provide timely responses to parent’s suggestions/questions.
- Provide assistance to parents, as appropriate, in understanding assessments, Title I requirements, monitoring academic progress, and how to work together to improve student achievement.
